The mayor of the Bulgarian capital, Yordanka Fandakova, attended the presentation of the new trolley buses that will operate in Sofia.

The Sofia municipality announced Tuesday that the ceremony took place in the garage “Iskar”, where the 10 machines have been stored.

The director for municipal and environmental infrastructure to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Jean-Patrick Manquet, has also attended the ceremony,

20 more trolley buses are expected to be delivered, each of them costing EUR 451 645. The money has been provided through a loan from EBRD.

The new vehicles are the joint implementation of “Solaris” and “Skoda” and are low-floor. The asynchronous motors enable 30% saving of electricity. The trolley buses also have a diesel generator for autonomous movement in areas where there is no voltage on the network. The passenger salon has 30 seats, air conditioning and the floor has a coating slip.

After being tested on the Sofia streets for a month, the first ten trolley buses will move on route 11. The others will move on routes 4 and 5.
