President of World Bank, Robert Zoellick, will sign a memorandum with the Bulgarian PM for cooperation in the development of Bulgaria’s infrastructure.

The ceremony will be held Tuesday when Zoellick will visit the capital Sofia as a part of his two-day visit to Bulgaria.

Besides the PM Boyko Borisov, Zoellick will also meet with the Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov, the Finance Minister Simeon Djankov, the Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov and the Minister for Regional Development Rosen Plevneliev.

“As a new EU member-state, Bulgaria has the unique opportunity to use the maximum of the available EU funding and speed up to get closer to the EU life standard. Investments in the infrastructure, including in the transport infrastructure, are extremely important for increasing the country’s competitiveness,” Zoellick said.

He has also stated that he is looking forward to the discussions on how the World Bank, in cooperation with the European Commission and the EU institutions, could help Bulgaria make the maximum of the available resources.
