The Bulgarian Labor Minister, Totyu Mladenov has stated that the unemployment in Bulgaria has dropped to 9,23% in July.

“The unemployed people in July were 341 000, which is 1 000 less than the rate for June,” Mladenov said Thursday, adding that the free job positions in the end of July have been about 7600.

The minister has noted that the free positions are in the spheres of processing industry, trade, services, agriculture, restaurants and hotels, tourism and construction.

“Trade unions also need to activate, so that all the free job positions, announced by the business, could be taken up,” Mladenov said.

He has stated that from September, his Ministry will continue co-operating with the trade unions, with regards to the revenues of the National Insurance Agency, the size of the insurance fees.

The minister has also added that the trade unions will sign a national agreement with the employers for regulation of home-based work, long-distance work and the work of the agencies for temporary employment.

Bulgaria’s unemployment rate in June 2010 has been confirmed at 9.26% according to detailed data published Tuesday by the State Employment Agency.

The data has confirmed the preliminary estimates that Bulgaria’s unemployment declined for four consecutive month.

The major cause of the decline is the seasonal employment in tourism, construction, agriculture, and processing industry.
