Legendary Bulgarian Gets Sculpture at International Wrestling Headquarters

A sculpture of legendary Bulgarian wrestler Valentin Jordanov will be erected in front of the headquarters of the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA).

The six-tonne, two meters high sculpture depicting Jordanov in one of his classic moves was designed in Bulgaria by sculptor Vladimir Nikolov at the request of the FILA President Raphael Martinetti, reports the Trud Daily.

The sculpture is already on its way to the FILA headquarters in Corsier-sur-Vevey, outside of Lausanne, Switzerland.

Valentin Jordanov (born January 26, 1960) is a freestyle wrestler in the up to 52 kg weight class. He is an 1996 Olympic Games champion, seven times champion of the World, seven times champion of Europe, and the only wrestler to hold 10 medals (7 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze) from World Championships. He is currently a deputy head of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.
