The Bulgarian Ministry of Transport has announced that the executive agency “Automobile Administration” has established violation in half of the Bulgarian bus stations.

The most common violations have been the lack of sunshade and lighting at the stations, dirty bathrooms and lack of display of ticket prices.

The Transport Minister, Alexander Tsvetkov, has announced the beginning of the bus station checks on June 29 in the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Varna.

The experts have given a deadline for fixing of the irregularities to 89 bus stations around the country. For now, only two of them, situated in Varna, have made the necessary corrections.

There have not been established any violation in the districts of the Bulgarian cities of Sliven, Ruse and Targovishte. Four bus stations in Varna and one in Montana will be used only for stops.

The check has established that many bus stations lack heating system, as well as a sound system for announcing the arriving and departing buses. Also, many of the checked objects do not have special rooms for luggage storage or equipped rooms for mothers with children.

The Ministry of Transport has announced that second round of the checks will be performed in August. The most severe sanctions for violations envision maximum fees and even shutdown of bus stations.
