Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement denouncing the missile attacks launched by militants against cities in Israel and Jordan.

“We are concerned about the possibility that the provocative actions of extremist forces might lead to an escalation of tensions. We are convinced that the efforts for renewing the peace process in the Middle East must continue,” said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vesela Cherneva in a statement.

The Foreign Ministry expresses its condolences to the family of the Jordanian citizen who lost his life and the three other persons who were wounded in the missile attacks on Israel’s Eilat and Jordan’s Aqaba.

The Bulgarian government has welcomed the decision of the government of Israel to cooperate with the international investigation led by the UN of the incident with the Gaza-bound ships that were stormed by Israeli commandos in May, in the so called Gaza flotilla raid.
