The approval rate of Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, now stands at 56%, according to a recent poll conducted by the “Mediana” agency.

The results were presented Tuesday by sociologist, Kolio Kolev, during an interview for the TV channel bTV.

The poll conducted at the end of July, 2010, further shows that Borisov improved his rate by 3% in the last month while his Deputy and Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, has a 57% approval.

Kolev explains Tsvetanov’s high rates with his constantly declared and demonstrated will to fight organized crime while Borisov’s approval is going up due to praise from foreign politicians.

The ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party has lost about one third of their voters after the first year of their term, according to the poll. Kolev says this the normal “wear” of every government which had been bestowed high hopes during the elections, adding even the daily special police operations are now a little bit “too much” for Bulgarians.

According to Kolev, GERB currently has no alternative, but should focus more on the current issues instead of the 2011 presidential and local elections.

Meanwhile President, Georgi Parvanov, has increased his approval rate by 7% which the expert explains with the latter’s talk on social topics such as the amendments in the Labor Code, the mandated use of paid leave, and the retirement reform.
