The plane, an Antonov-24 twin turboprop of the Katekavia airline, was flying from Krasnoyarsk and had been approaching the airport in the city of Igarka when it crashed 700m from the runway.

It was raining at the time of the incident, but the weather had been corresponding to minimum flight requirements, according to Russian authorities.

The Russian Ministry of Transport is conducting a probe. The black box is yet to be located.
