Levski Beat CSKA 1:0 in Bulgaria's 'Eternal Derby'

Levski managed to snatch away a minimal 1:0 win against arch-rivals CSKA in the first round of the Bulgarian National Football Championship Sunday night.

The game at the Vasil Levski National Stadium started out dynamically, with both teams evenly attacking. Levski nevertheless took the lead and in the 39th minute Levski's Garra Dembélé blasted the ball from 10 meters into Karadzhov's goal.

The second half was stresfull and even more dynamic, with CSKA pressing to equalize. In the 81th Levski's Vladi Gadzhev was thrown out of the game with a second yellow card (for simulating), but the opposing red team could not take advantage of this and went on to lose.

This is the third time in history that the most prominent Bulgarian derby is played out in the first round of the national championship.

No major acts of hooliganism were reported at or around Sunday's game. 8 persons were arrested before the game for misbehavior and 12 after.

In Sunday's other game, Locomotiv Sofia beat hosts Montana 1:0.
