Bulgarian Telecom Watchdog Forces Vivacom to Lower Prices

Bulgaria's Communications Regulation Commission, the state watchdog in the telecom field, issued a decision Tuesday demanding from Vivacom, Bulgaria's largest stationary phone operator, to lower its prices for calls to mobile networks.

Vivacom, which unites the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company and Vivatel, will have to offer prices not higher than BGN 0.250 for strong traffic and BGN 0.208 for weak traffic (VAT included).

The decision comes after a check by the state communications regulator which found out that Vivacom does not abide by previously imposed restrictions.

In addition, the watchdog announced that since Vivacom's prices have not been approved, the telecommunications company faces penalties.
