Bulgaria’s Ministers of Culture, Vezhdi Rashidov, and of Agriculture, Miroslav Naydenov, met Saturday in Istanbul with representatives of the Rumelia Balkan Federation of emigrants from Bulgaria and Balkan countries.

This is the first ever meeting of ministers from the cabinet of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party with Bulgarian expats in Turkey.

One of the main topic was organizing a future meeting with Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov.

The meeting triggered great interest with over 40 representatives present. All attending joined around the idea many problems have accumulated over the years as the result of the long-time isolation of these emigrants from Bulgaria.

Rashidov said he discovered the meeting was needed and urgent, and topics revolved around social and property issues, but also around culture and cultural heritage. The Minister was backed by his colleague Miroslav Naydenov, who stated the meeting was timely and sincere.

“We realized people here have many expectations regarding Bulgaria. We wish, as a cabinet, to reinstate the faith in these forgotten people,” Naydenov said.
