Die Presse: Corruption in Romania, Bulgaria Blossoms

Austrian daily Die Presse writes Wednesday that corruption in still a grave problem for EU newcomers Bulgaria and Romania in an article commenting the latest European Commission progress report on the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism published Tuesday.

According to Die Presse the Commission has criticised “lack of significant steps forward in the fight against corruption” and has even marked “steps back” on the part of Romania.

Regarding Bulgaria, the article mentions urges from the EC on greater protection of public funds against abuse.
