Bulgaria's National State Security Agency (DANS) has announced its success for the first half of 2010 and the dismissal of 600 employees.
“The achievement of better results is in direct proportion to the personnel policy of the agency and the optimization of the staff,” DANS has reported.
The agency has states it had biggest achievements in the spheres of energy, insurance and bank system, customs, taxes, investment and infrastructure projects, products and technologies with possible dual use, money laundering, judicial system, illegal manufacturing and distribution of weapons and international terrorism.
The report also acknowledges the good cooperation with other state institutions and points out that the result of this is the termination of the criminal activity on 322 cases during the first six months of 2010, in comparison to 376 case for the whole 2009.
According to data from DANS, the seized property and equipment in the period 2009 – 2010 amounted to BGN 80 M. They have also managed to prevent schemes for robbing the state of BGN 200 M.
DANS has also managed to stop international channels for money laundering of more than BGN 1 B. Narcotic substances worth BGN 67 M have also been seized by the agency.
