The leader of the rightist party “Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria" (DSB) has announced his called for the government to take a bailout loan from IMF.

“This is what all the finance experts in Sofia would have done, but apparently only the Finance Ministry has different policies,” said the DSB party leader, Ivan Kostov, and added that Bulgaria should take a EUR 1 B loan from IMF, in order to “prevent the fiscal reserve from going below its inviolable part”.

Kostov has stated his beliefs that the current government is speculating with the risks for the country in times of crisis because, in his words, there have been “predatory financial structures”, which wanted to win from Bulgaria by receiving high interest on the loans it has taken.

The DSB leader has said that these predatory financial structures have started to attack Bulgaria by “talking nonsense”, which has influenced the investors.

“They say that Bulgaria is at risk, just like Romania, which is absurd because Romania has a huge external debt. Thus start the speculations about Bulgaria,’ Kostov said.

He also made clear that he would consider running for leader of the Bulgaian right-wing party because, in his words, it was time for people to “stop sparing themselves with consciously holding lower positions in a moment when responsible people are needed for responsible positions”.

However, Kostov said he did not think his name would be considered at the talks for the candidates for the position.
