Around 10 Bulgarian magistrates are under investigation for unauthorized contacts by the Special Investigative Service (SRS), the Deputy Chief Prosecutor announced.

“We listen to them, we watch them, we film them,” Deputy Chief Prosecutor Valeri Parvanov said Tuesday in an interview for the Bulgarian private TV channel bTV.

Parvanov also said that the magistrates are not always exposed when using the Special Investigative Service against them. In his words, they are exposed when the Special Investigative Service is used against people in the organized crime.

According to Bulgaria’s Deputy Chief Prosecutor, cases have been filed against 30 magistrates and there are convictions on some of them. He said that after the latest amendments in the Criminal Procedure Code, the capabilities of the Prosecution’s Office have increased.

“In this way, the Prosecution’s Office exposes the corrupted people in the judicial system,” Parvanov said.
