Slovakia has scored a historic 3:2 win over Germany 2006 World Champion Italy in their last match of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The surprising victory of the Slovaks left the Italians on the last position in Group F.

Slovakia was in the lead most of the match after its forward Vittek scored in the 25th and then again in the 73rd minute.

The Italians managed to return one goal only in the 81st minute scored by Di Natale, only to have Slovakia’s Kopunek add a third goal for his team in the 89th.

The final score – 3:2 for Slovakia – was formed two minutes into the extra time with a goal of Italy’s Quagliarella.

The other Group F match between Paraguay and New Zealand ended in a scoreless draw.

Thus, after the end of the group phase, Paraguay is the leader in Group F with 5 points, followed by Slovakia with 4, New Zealand with 3, and Italy with 2.

In the Group of 16 matches, Paraguay will be playing the second team from Group E, which will most likely be either Japan, or Denmark. Slovakia will be facing the most likely leader in Group E, the Netherlands.
