The cabinet will propose to President Georgi Parvanov to release General-Major, Volodya Tsvetanov, from his duties as Chief Inspector at the Defense Ministry.

The information was reported by the government’s press center Wednesday.

The release is in connection with the General’s upcoming diplomatic appointment. The Bulgarian daily “Trud” (Labor) writes he is going to become Defense Attaché in Kiev.

Tsvetanov is the brother of notorious former Interior Minister and current Member of the Parliament from the Bulgarina Socialist Party, BSP, Rumen Petkov, who was forced into resignation over several scandals at the Interior and alleged ties with notorious mafia bosses. (Petkov is currently suing German journalist Jurgen Roth for writing in his book that the former Interior Minister is connected to the underworld and to the illegal production of synthetic narcotics.)
