The Czech-owned electric power utility in Bulgaria, CEZ, is operating in the country in full compliance with the regulations of the State energy watchdog, according to the company.

The CEZ official statement, distributed to the media Monday, comes just two days after the results of the audit of the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) revealed Bulgaria's three power utilities – German-owned E.ON, Austrian-owned EVN, and CEZ – have committed serious violations when outsourcing their services.

Regarding the DKEVR report findings that CEZ and E.ON have outsourced almost all of their services to their parent companies, which in turn outsourced them to outside entities, the CEZ management points out that all outsourcing contracts are legal and have been concluded with the knowledge and approval of DKEVR under a DKEVR decision from 2006.

“The fact that numbers circulating in the media are taken out of the context of the contracts and do not represent correct and precise information about the services and their value is alarming. The CEZ Bulgaria policy is open and loyal to both customers and Bulgaria’s regulating authority,” the letter concludes.

On Sunday, when announcing the findings of the report, Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, said that lobbying circles in Bulgaria and Europe are exerting enormous pressure on him over the auditing of power utilities, and informed parts of the audit report will be provided to the National Revenue Agency which will inspect the taxes of the power utilities.
