Bulgaria's state fund “Agriculture” is renewing its acceptance of projects for the Rural Development Areas Program, as announced in the fund's website Monday.

The state fund “Agriculture” is expected to be the program with the most absorbed EU funds in Bulgaria.

“With 3.8% overall absorption of EU funds in Bulgaria, the state fund “Agriculture” reached more than 30% absorption and negotiation for the past 7-8 months. With the implementation of the rest of the measures, or the ones that were suspended, we have the opportunity to raise this percentage,” Agriculture minister Miroslav Neydenov said.

Companies will now be able to apply with projects for improving the economic value of forests, adding value to the agriculture and wood products, support for creating and development of micro enterprises, diversification of non-agriculture activities, and initial forestation of non-agriculture lands.

Business plans on the guaranteed budgets for modernization of agriculture enterprises will also be accepted, as announced in the website.

In the beginning of September, the fund will start accepting projects from the municipalities for encouraging the tourist and information activities, and the education.

The acceptance of projects for the state fund “Agriculture” has been temporarily terminated during the first months of the year because of the piling of 11 000 projects. Last week the fund's executive director, Kalina Ilieva, announced that they have processed 9 800 of them with the overall subsidy of BGN 1.3 B.

The fund is planning to process the other 1 800 projects by September, in parallel with the newly submitted ones.
