A record jackpot in the history of the Bulgarian state lottery “Toto 2” of BGN 5.9 M might be won Sunday.

The jackpot in the “6 out of 49” game of “Toto 2” has not been won in 20 weeks despite the two weekly draws – on Thursdays and Sundays. The bidders are supposed to guess six numbers drawn from a pool of numbers from 1 to 49.

Once again, before the 45th draw for 2010, millions of Bulgarians as well as citizens of the neighboring countries – Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, and Turkey – flocked to purchase lottery tickets and cast what they hope to be the winning numbers.

The 45th draw for 2010 has also set another record – the number of tickets purchases – 1 091 028; these raised BGN 3.5 M in three days since the previous draw on Thursday.

Many have bought tickets for BGN 504, which allow for marking four different sets of ten numbers each; more expensive tickets allow for four sets of 13 numbers, and cost BGN 1029. A number of people have also cast tickets with 14 numbers costing BGN 3003.

The long-anticipated draw of the BGN 5.9 M jackpot is scheduled for 8 pm Sunday, and will be televised live on the Bulgarian National TV.
