Bulgarian Minister Tries to Woo Chinese Investors

Bulgaria’s Economy Minister Traicho Traikov is setting out on a trip to China in an attempt to attract Chinese investors for Bulgarian projects such as greenfield industrial zones.

Traikov will visit one of China’s most developed provinces Zhejiang, and will have a meeting with Zhao Hongzhu, Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang committee, announced the Bulgarian Economy Ministry Friday. The possibility for creating building a joint industrial zone near the Bulgarian capital Sofia is said to be the major topic of the meeting.

Bulgaria’s Economy Minister will head a formal delegation to the Shanghai Expo (taking place April 1 – October 31) where Bulgaria is presented on an area of 324 sq. m. in a joint European pavilion.

After that, Traikov will meet with the China’s Commerce Minister Chen Daming; Shanghai’s Vice Mayor in charge of foreign affairs, foreign trade, and foreign investment, Tang Dengjie; he will sign a cooperation memorandum with Jin Yonghui, the Director General of the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province.

The Bulgarian Minister is also expected to talk with representatives of leading Chinese companies such as Huawei Technologies, China Datang Corporation, KSM Dongfang – Changchun, Beijing Feiyashi Technology Development Co, among others.
