Blockbuster 'Mission London' Sets New Bulgarian Record

Mission London has continued to break Bulgarian film revenue records.

Bulgaria's latest motion picture “Mission London” continued to break Bulgarian film records.

By the second week of June, the Hollywood-style Bulgarian-made comedy was seen by a total of 313 465 viewers around the country, and has made over BGN 2.4 M, solidifying its position as the most profitable Bulgarian movie ever made.

The film is close to breaking even before its international premiere as about EUR 1.5 M (about BGN 2.9) were invested in its making.

The comedy of director Dimitar Mitovski, telling the story about life at the Bulgarian Embassy in London, has already broken the all time record for contemporary Bulgarian film revenues – the one of “Dzift” which brought 36 000 viewers and BGN 255 896 during its entire showing.

“Sex and the city 2” topped the Bulgarian box office chart for the first week of June, statistics showed. It brought revenue of BGN 453 419 and has been watched by 57 760 people.

Twice as many movie fans went to see the Disney motion picture “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time”. For its twenty days in Bulgarian movie theaters, 111 549 people brought BGN 90 579 of revenue.

The adaptation of the comic story “Marmaduke” ranks third in popularity among Bulgarian viewers for the first week of June.
