Bulgarian Varna Summer Host for Chess Tournaments

Children from six countries will compete in the 5th Euro Championship for chess teams for 8 to 16-year-olds, which will be hosted by the Bulgarian city of Varna.

Between June 12 and 21, “Grand Hotel Varna” will be a venue of the open tournament, organized by the European chess union, Bulgarian Chess Federation, the National Chess Foundation “Sea Horse”, the Varna Chess Club “Vesselin Topalov”, and Varna municipality.

Among the participants, divided by 25 groups and 5 age groups, are three European champions.

In parallel to the children championship, the Varna Chess Club and “Grand Hotel Varna” are also hosting the 2nd International Open “Varna” for chess grandmasters and competitors from all age.

Many Bulgarian chess stars that have not competed recently will attend the event, the organizers said.
