Crown Agents, the British company consulting the country's Customs Agency, has received over BGN 90 M for its services, Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov informs.

Djankov spoke Friday in plenary hall where he appeared to answer questions from the Members of the Parliament.

The money has been given to the Brits between 2002 and March, 2010.

The Minister reiterated once again that Bulgaria will suspend its contract with Crown Agents after it expires at the end of May over the economic crisis and the cash-strapped cabinet.

Djankov told the MPs the company had worked under two programs – helping the collection of revenues by the establishment of a mobile Customs control and modernizing the National Revenue and Customs’ Agencies.

Crown Agents has been providing consultancy services to the Bulgarian government since 2001. All the services they have provided have been directly financed by the Bulgarian government itself.

For many years Crown Agents was a British public corporation. In 1997 it transferred to the private sector as a limited company owned by a new entity, The Crown Agents Foundation.
