The favorite for the title at the women’s French Open tennis Grand Slam, Justine Henin, has dumped Bulgaria number one Tsvetana Pironkova out of the tournament.

Henin was destructive in the first round at Roland Garros, winning 6-4 6-3, in a little over 90 minutes. Pironkova, however fought hard and even had a chance to break at 5-4 down in the first set.

Pironkova was broken early in the second set before fighting back to 3-2. Eventually, Henin’s power hitting broke the Bulgarian’s defense and she strolled home.

Henin is the favorite to dominate the women’s draw on one of her favorite services – clay and she looked in confident form, with many commentators making her and Rafael Nadal favorite to take the singles titles in the French Capital.
