Bulgarian ozeki Kotooshu put an end to his participation in Summer Grand Sumo Tournament in the Japanese capital after a defeat by veteran fellow Kaio, who improved his record to 9-6 and picked up his 1,000th career win.

Meanwhile grand champion Hakuho defeated Mongolian compatriot Harumafuji to finish the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament with a perfect record from 15 bouts.

Hakuho wrapped up his 14th Emperor's Cup on Friday. He is the sole grand champion competing in sumo after the retirement of Mongolian Asashoryu in February.
