Everton manager David Moyes would like to begin his summer recruitment by bringing Bulgarian international winger Martin Petrov to Goodison Park from Manchester City, according to reports.

The 31-year-old stated in April that his season was over after picking up a knee injury in February playing for Manchester City. Petrov who had won his place back in the Manchester City side with some stunning performances under new manager Roberto Mancini was injured during a game against Stoke and subsequently had surgery in Barcelona.

Blackburn Rovers is also said to battle it out for Manchester City winger when the Bulgarian’s contract expires in two weeks.

At 31, Petrov is believed to represent a not that expensive, short-term fix which Everton’s and Blackburn Rovers’ respective budgets may afford.
