Bulgaria’s Socialist President, Georgi Parvanov, voiced Saturday renewed strong criticism of the cabinet of the center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party.

Parvanov, who is visiting the city of Shumen, rejected the planed intelligence reform, the fiscal policy and the administrative reform.

“We now must revise our budget, tap into the fiscal reserve only because we invested in unrealistic goals such as entering the Eurozone ASAP. In addition, the revenues’ collection is more than grim,” the President is quoted saying.

Meanwhile, the planned 20% reductions at local municipalities must be considered carefully and by taking into account the particular conditions at each one of them because some simply cannot survive such measure, according to Parvanov.

The President also rejected the idea of Defense Minister, Anyu Angelov, to merge all intelligence services to create a mega-structure of the CIA type, saying this is the wrong moment to experiment and such move will create additional tensions among the employees of the civil and military intelligence services.
