Night clubs, offices and several private addresses in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia were raided Friday night into Saturday in the latest special police ops codenamed “The Pimps.”

The news was reported Saturday by Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, who says the aim of the action have been establishments providing “sex services.”

The 2 clubs in question are “Versailles” and “Ivona,” both in downtown Sofia.

4 people have been arrested, identified as Velislav aka Viki, Emil aka The Shaved, Rosen aka The Fat and Miglena Hana, believed to be the Madam of the Sofia prostitutes.

Tsvetanov states the operation is a continuation of another special one, codenamed “Octopus” in which 14 people were arrested in February over charges of organized crime – illegal drug trafficking, prostitution, racket, and money laundering, among others. Of the 14, only alleged ringleader and former secret services undercover agent, Aleksei Petrov, and Mario Dzholotov, believed to be Petrov’s right hand, remain behind bars.

Meanwhile, the police in the central city of Stara Zagora had brought to conclusion another operation, codenamed “The Negligent,” the Minister reports, adding the crime group had been dealing with illegal trade of ammunition.

The gang had been selling for scrap ammunition from the military training ground “Zmeevo.”
