Bulgarian EU Commissioner, Kristalina Georgieva, has stated that Bulgaria is positively moving forward as a member of the European family.

Georgieva said Saturday that the EU is starting to recognize the giant steps forward made by the current center-right GERB government; “They take us very well, we are admired for how the Bulgarian government has kept a tight hold on the budget, especially in the situation we are now.”

She added that Brussels is also satisfied with the acceleration of absorption of EU funds in Bulgaria and positive about the anti-crisis measuresregarding the tightening of control over expenditure and investments.

Georgieva concluded that the Bulgarians who work in Brussels have received many positive reviews from other countries in the EU.

She added that unemployment is a problem in Bulgaria, especially in the construction sector, like elsewhere in Europe and that this problem would probably not be resolved this year, with many Bulgarian emigrants being forced to return to Bulgaria to look for work.
