Bulgaria's Jordan Jovtchev has made it to the finals at the European Gymnastics Championships in Birmingham after ranking fifth in the qualification on the rings.

Jovtchev collected 14.725 points and will be one of the eight finalists to compete for the medals.

France's Samir Ait Said was the top gymnast on still rings.

Defending champion Yuri van Gelder (Netherlands) is unable to compete because of a one-year ban for cocaine use.

Jovtchev, 37, ranked third in the European Championship last year and took a silver medal at the competition for the world title in London.
