Quadrant Beverages Bulgaria, the company that bottles, sells and distributes PepsiCo branded products in Bulgaria, plans new investments this year and is intending to buy a local company.

The company has refused to provide more details about the new acquisition it plans to make, but said it is not a part of the soft drinks market.

QBB currently claims a 10% share of the local soft drinks market, up from 5% two years ago. It has invested a total EUR 6 M in production capacities since the start of its operations in 2007. Its EBITDA surged 400% to EUR 2.7 M last year.

Quadrant Bulgaria Beverage, a subsidiary of the international joint venture formed by Cyprus-registered Quadrant European Beverage and Minneapolis-based PepsiAmericas, Inc, stepped on the Bulgarian market in September 2007 with the acquisition of Agrima, part of Agrohold, for EUR 10 M.

Agrima, Bulgaria’s second-largest bottler after Coca-Cola, sells Pepsi, 7up, Mirinda, Mountain Dew, Prisum, Diva, Aqua Diva, Evervess and Gatorade soft drink brands in the domestic market.

Israel's Quadrant European Beverages owns an 80% stake in QBB while the remaining part is controlled by US soft drinks producer Pepsi Co.
