Construction works in Bulgaria's Black Sea summer destinations near the coastal city of Varna will be terminated as of the middle of next month when the new season sets in.

An order to this effect was issued on Thursday by Varna mayor Kiril Yordanov, to come into force on May 15 at all the resorts located nearby.

Bulgaria's coastal resorts have attracted lots of investors over the last few years hoping to make a windfall from sea property. Disgruntled tourists however have complained of overconstruction and never-ending building works spoiling their holiday along the Black Sea coast.

Construction workers claim they have been briefed on the issued order for terminating their work, but practice shows bosses will turn a deaf ear to it.

Experts attribute investors' insolence to the low fines imposed on those who breach the law.
