Bulgaria blue-chip energy Group Enemona has signed a EUR 55.5 M deal with Slovenske Elektrarne, a unit of Italy's Enel, to carry out works at Mochovce nuclear plant, the company announced.

The Bulgarian construction company will be in charge of the Electrical and I&C erection of Units 3 and 4 of Mochovce nuclear power plant in the Slovak Republic. The deadline for implementation of the contract is three years.

"The contract was signed after the company outbid international rivals," Prokopi Prokopiev, Enemona head of the Corporate Policy department has explained.

According to him an important factor for winning the tender was the company's previous experience with Italian company Enel, which is owner of Slovenske Elektrarne, the second largest utility company in Central and Eastern Europe.

In Bulgaria, Enemona has worked on the Kozloduy nuclear power plant, as well as the Maritsa East power plant complex.

The Slovak government said in February that economic recovery will be driven by revival in foreign demand and highway construction. The cabinet expects the EUR 2.8 B project to build two reactors at the Mochovce nuclear plant to help boost economic growth.
