One Bulgarian is reported to have perished in the crash of an AN-12 cargo plane in the Philippines.

A Russian-made crashed north of Manila on Thursday as it attempted an emergency landing. The plane had taken off from Mactan, some 30 km away from the site of the crash, ABC reported.

Three men – two Russians and one Uzbek – have been saved from the flames by the rescuers. However, the three other crew members – two more Russians and a Bulgarian, whose identity has not been reported – are missing, and are believed to have perished.

The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said it could not confirm or disprove the reports about the death of the Bulgarian national. The causes of the crash in the Philippines are still unclear.
