Meteorology Institute: No Volcanic Ash over Bulgaria

The volcanic ash cloud from Iceland has dissipated and there are no increased levels of dust in the atmosphere over Bulgaria.

Only Northern Europe has a higher concentration of dust in the air, Bulgaria’s National Meteorology and Hydrology Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences told the Cross agency.

The Institute announced that no “colored” rain is expected in Bulgaria despite the fact that the Icelandic volcanic ash reached the country.

The cloud of volcanic ash from Iceland reached Bulgaria on April 18, Sunday, covering the northern and southeastern parts of the country. However, it has moved much further to the north overnight.

Bulgaria’s health authorities have said there was no matter of concern for patients with asthma and other lung problems because of the Icelandic cloud.
