Bulgaria winger Martin Petrov has stated that his season is over after picking up a knee injury in February playing for Manchester City.

Petrov who had won his place back in the Manchester City side with some stunning performances under new manager Roberto Mancini was injured during a game against Stoke and subsequently had surgery in Barcelona.

"My season is over. I wanted to play in several matches at the end of the championship but the doctors said I should take a rest for three more weeks,” Petrov said Sunday to Trud newspaper.

"I am disappointed and at times even desperate. Deep inside, I have not given up hope of overcoming this nightmare,'' he concluded.
