Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, appointed Tuesday Avgustina Tsvetkova, as Deputy Defense Minister, the cabinet's press center informs.
Since August 2009, Tsvetkova has worked as political advisor to Nikolay Mladenov in both his capacities as Defense Minister and later Foreign Affairs Minister. She is an expert in anti-corruption polices and relations with NATO and the US.
For 9 years Tsvetkova worked as a Program Director and Secretary General of the Bulgarian Atlantic Club. From 1997 to 2001, she was the Vice President and Secretary General of the Atlantic Association of Young Political Leaders in Washington DC and Oslo, and Vice President of the Atlantic Treaty Association in Brussels between 2004 and 2007. Tsvetkova is a member of the Consulting Council of the Center for Political and Economic Studies in Washington.
The new Deputy Defense Minister is a graduate of the Sofia University. She had specialized in Denmark, the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies and the US State Department.
Tsvetkova began her professional career as a journalist with the Bulgarian National Radio and the Bulgarian National Television.
