Ethnic Turks Support Bulgaria Hydro Project Price Probe

The ethnic Turkish DPS party has stated that it also wants to know how the initial price of the Bulgarian ‘Tsankov Kamak’ hydroelectricity project increased twofold.

Ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) spokesman Kamen Kostadinov, speaking on bTV, said that his party hopes the Prosecutor’s Office reveals how the price of the project increased so much.

He added that DPS party leader Ahmed Dogan “does not have the appearance of someone who is worried about his consultancy fee,” which he continued was received from a private company for a number of projects and did not involve the state.

Last week, Ahmed Dogan, leader of the ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) which was a member of the ex tri-partite government, was reported to have taken BGN 1,5 M as a consultant for the ‘Tsankov Kamak’, ‘Dospat’, ‘Gorna Arda’ and ‘Tundzha’ Dam projects. Doagn later denied the Trud newspaper allegations.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov then revealed on Thursday that prosecutors are already studying the project of ‘Tsankov Kamak’, after a BGN 250 M hike in the initial price was discovered.
