Ex Bulgaria Govt Sold Military Properties 'Way Below' Market Price

Bulgaria’s former socialist-led government sold 400 military properties close to the Black Sea for BGN 21 M, way below the market price, a GERB party MP reported Saturday.

Krasimir Velchev, Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Group of Bulgaria’s ruling party GERB, said that large properties from the liquidated Vointech company were sold by the Stanishev cabinet in Pomorie and Burgas for at least BGN 5 M lower than the market price.

On Friday, Velchev also reported that Bulgaria’s former cabinets committed gross abuses by selling large amounts of Defense Ministry property for scrap.

Velchev announced Friday in the city of Gabrovo that the previous cabinet sold for scrap about 400 fighter jets, yachts, and many other pieces of military equipment. They also made other “weird” deals with real estate Defense Ministry properties.
