Bulgarian universities must become “free communities” with strict rules but without unnecessary formality, according to Education Minister Sergey Ignatov.
Ignatov and the Minister of Sports and Youth, Svilen Neykov, visited Friday the Economic Academy “D. A. Tsenov” in the Danube town of Svishtov in order to mark the tenth birthday of Bulgaria’s National Representation of Student Councils, BGNES reported.
“The development of public life within the academic environment and the advancement of exchanges between Bulgarian and European universities will be a priority,” Ignatov stated while praising the National Representation of Student Councils for their activeness in suggesting new legislative measures.
The Chair of the Student Councils Representation, Petar Chaushev, demanded that the tradition of mass sports competitions of Bulgarian higher education institutions should be restored – an idea that was welcomed by Sports Minister Neykov.
