Top US actor Ron Perlman has joined the cast of Conan just before the start of shooting in Bulgaria this week, according to reports.

Conan, of course, will by no means be new territory for Perlman who in the last three years has also starred in In the Name of the King, Hellboy 2, Outlander, The Mutant Chronicles and Season of the Witch.

According to reports Perlman saved the day after Mickey Rourke eventually turned down his role in the movie.

The Hollywood Reporter also suggested Monday that G.I. Joe actor, Said Taghmaoui, has joined the cast of the Nu Image/Millennium Conan production.

Avatar star Stephen Lang recently came aboard as the villain in the movie that will be directed by Marcus Nispel.

Taghmaoui will allegedly play a leader of thieves who is saved by Conan (Jason Momoa) and later offers him aid. Lang is going to be the ruler in search of a queen.
