The transcript scandal involving Bulgaria President Georgi Parvanov and Finance Minister Simeon Djankov, could grow in to a colossal foreign policy scandal, Blue Coalition MP Asen Agov says.

Rightist MP Agov stated Thursday that foreign diplomats have asked whether their conversations with the President have been recorded without them knowing.

“Foreign representatives in Sofia and other European capitals are asking aloud whether their meetings in the presidency have been or will be recorded and whether there has been requested authorization from the relevant state leaders, ministers, ambassadors. If no such authorization was requested, here lies the scandal,” Agov said.

He concluded; “This is a violation of international law in such formal meetings.”

On Wednesday Bulgaria’s governing GERB party have announced that they will submit a request to Parliament for the initiation of the process for the removal of Parvanov following his move to publish the transcript from a private conversation he held with Djankov.

In Bulgarian law it states that “no citizen can be recorded without his knowledge or...except in cases provided by law”.
