Bulgaria government securities may now be settled free of charge through the National Bank, which now has direct access to Clearstream.

The international central securities depository (ICSD), owned by Deutsche Borse Group, has opened direct links with Bulgaria and Romania, thereby helping investors access these financial markets.

In addition to government securities transactions, debt securities - corporate bonds, mortgage bonds, municipal bonds - as well as equities and investment funds will be settled via the Bulgarian Central Securities Depository (CDAD).

The direct link with Romania will, similarly, allow settlement of government securities via its National Bank.

The Clearstream network now reaches 47 domestic markets around the globe: 30 in Europe, 5 in the Americas, 10 in the Asia Pacific region and 2 in Middle-East and Africa.

It is the widest network of any ICSD and enables counterparties in local markets to settle eligible securities through Clearstream's Luxembourg-based operational hub.
