Bulgaria Defense Minister Praises Women Militia on March 8

Bulgaria Defense Minister Anyu Angelov has praised the contribution made by women militia to the success and strength of the Bulgarian armed forces.

Angelov met with members of the Governing Board of the Bulgarian Armed Forces Women Association on March 8, the ministry press office has announced.

"For us it is very important that more women work in the army," said Minister Angelov.

He assured the leadership of the association that he would pursue and grant all opportunities for career and personal development of women in the Ministry of Defense.

"The dialogue and close cooperation between us on various issues will continue in the future," said the Minister of Defense. "I remain available for all issues that affect your daily life."

Colonel Nevyana Miteva, chairman of the organization, presented information at the meeting concerning initiatives on the occasion of 10th anniversary on the adoption of Resolution 1325 by the Security Council of the United Nations concerning women, peace and security, the specific directives of NATO and the new EU policies for participation women in missions and operations.

"Through you, I want to congratulate all the women soldiers and to wish them much health and success in their personal and professional lives," concluded the Defense Minister, adding that he also congratulated all those women working in his ministry.
