The leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Sergey Stanishev, has again attacked the policies and performance of Simeon Djankov, Minister of Finance.

Stanishev was speaking on Saturday at a round table entitled: "The political situation in the country, the management of GERb, and the place and role of the BSP”.

He stated that, in his view, the first anti-crisis measure required was the replacement of the Finance Minister. Stanishev described him as "harmful for Bulgaria", with "people still living in poverty, with no money for basic things".

On the current dispute surrounding the publication of the transcript of the Finance Minister’s recent meeting with President Parvanov, the BSP leader said he found nothing to reproach in the decision of the President to publish the shorthand record of their conversation.

He commented: "I find it funny that this government and this power complains about the openness. Wasn't this the main appeal of GERB?" he asked.
