Bulgaria Star Balakov to Play in Haiti Charity Match

Bulgarian football star Krassimir Balakov has been invited to play in a charity match in Germany against Haiti to raise money to help the earthquake survivors.

Balakov, the current manager of Chernomorets Burgas, was invited alongside his former Stuttgart teammates ex German international Fredi Bobic (current Director of Chernomorets) and Brazilian star Élber Giovane, to play against Haiti in Augsburg on March 7 at 17:00.

All proceeds from the event will go to earthquake victims in Haiti. Bobic said “The cause is great and I hope to help. I hope that there will be a spectacular match which ends 6:6."

Balakov is a former Bulgarian footballer and a key member of the Bulgarian national team that finished fourth in the 1994 FIFA World Cup. After Hristo Stoichkov, he is considered the greatest Bulgarian footballer of his generation.
