Serbian war criminal Veselin Vlahovic presented a Bulgarian ID when he was arrested near Altea, Spain, on Tuesday.

Vlahovic had been wanted for over 100 murders committed during the 1992-1995 War in Bosnia and Herzegovina while he was fighting on the Serbian side.

The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Tuesday that the Serbian war criminal had a home in Altea, in the Eastern part of the country.

Vlahovic was born in Montenegro in 1969. Three international warrants had been issued for his arrest, and he had been wanted for war crimes, genocide, torture and rape, including the murder of over 100 women and children in Bosnia committed during the war.

Vlahovic has been known as “the Monster from Grbavica”, after the village where he committed the war crimes in question.

The Spanish authorities have provided no details as to how and when Vlahovic acquired a Bulgarian passport.
