Bulgaria’s ethnic Turkish party DPS has demanded from the Borisov government an economic plan “Bulgaria 2020”, its Deputy Chair stated Sunday.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) conducted a closed meeting in the mountain resort of Borovets over the weekend, and the Deputy Chair of the party, Lyutvi Mestan made the first media statement after it.

Mestan claimed that the economic situation of the country was the only topic on the agenda of the DPS meeting in Borovets.

He said Bulgaria was in a need of strategy modeled after the EU 2020 agenda, which should incorporate the same pillars – innovations and knowledge-based economy, full employment, and environment-friendly economy.

The DPS says it is urging debates in the Parliament on those topics because in many of these areas Bulgaria ranks last in the EU.
