Ahmed Emin, one of the major figures of ethnic Turkish party DPS, was never an agent of Bulgaria's National Security Agency.

Tsvetlin Yovchev, the Chief of Bulgaria’s State National Security Agency (DANS) announced this news, with respect to Emin, the DPS politician who committed suicide in the fall of 2008.

Yovchev was replying to claims made by Kamen Kostadinov, an MP from the DPS party (“Movement for Rights and Freedoms”), that Emin, who committed suicide in the fall of 2008, was involved in a DANS plot to kill the party leader Ahmed Dogan.

Yovchev concluded that according to all the information available to him Emin had not collaborated in any way with DANS. He did not comment on the claim that Emin was involved in a plot to kill Dogan.

Earlier Thursday Kostadinov said the DPS party had indirect evidence proving this suspicion, such as irregularities in Emin’s behavior in the period before he committed suicide. Emin was the head of the political cabinet of the DPS leader Ahmed Dogan, and one of his close associates.
